The name Foroige derives from the Gaelic meaning “development of youth.” Founded in 1952, Foroige is the largest and most successful youth training organization in Ireland annually engaging approximately 50,000 young people, under the watchful guidance of a staff of 250 and an army of 5,000 volunteers. The fundamental purpose of Foroige is to empower young people between the ages of 10 to 18 to involve themselves consciously and actively in the development of society.
